Heigl Still Hating on Grey's

Say what you will about Katherine Heigl, but she always speaks her mind -- whether it's wise to do so or not. Last night on "The Late Show," she was booked to shill for "The Ugly Truth" but spent the first few minutes talking about "Grey's Anatomy." And when I say talking, I mean subtly jabbing.

"Our first day back was Wednesday and I'm going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them, it was a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean," she told Dave. "It was actually kinda great to be back because all my friends are there...but it was a little weird because T's not there anymore," Katherine said of real-life bestie T.R. Knight, who was killed off the show last year.

As for her own character's fate, Katherine was asked by Dave how much longer her character can stick around. "That's what I keep wondering," she laughed. "You last saw Izzie flatlining, so I won't give it away but I'm either there as a ghost, on the other side or I survived a disease no one survives, so..."
Dave tried to get to the bottom of her fate claiming that anyone who works a 17-hour day isn't simply lying in comatose in a bed.

"They do it to me, I'm sure," she said under her breath letting all us fans know that Katherine still wants off this damn show.

I've got to tell you, Katherine's refusal to play nice is so refreshing and endearing that I will absolutely drop $10 to see "The Ugly Truth" this weekend -- if for no other reason than to keep giving her reasons to prefer life on the big screen!

After the jump, an adorable non-"Grey's" related story from the bubbly (no longer) blonde about doggie dumpster diving!

Katherine Heigl Talks 'Grey's' Future

Just a few months ago, Katherine Heigl’s fate on “Grey’s Anatomy” seemed uncertain after her character, Izzie Stevens, flat lined following brain surgery.

But on Monday night’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” where Katherine confirmed filming has started on Season 6, the upbeat actress told the host she is hoping “Grey’s” is in it for the long haul.

“We have another two years, I think, at least in the contract,” Katherine said “Hopefully the show goes, you know, [into] ‘ER’ time, which would be cool.”

While Katherine would like to see her show hit double digit seasons like “ER,” which bowed out in April after 15 years, she
admitted to not being comfortable with working long hours.

“Our first day back was Wednesday [of last week], and I keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them – [it was] a 17-hour day,” she told Dave. “I think it’s cruel and mean.”

Also uncomfortable was not having one of her best friends – T.R. Knight – on the set, as his character, Dr. George O’Malley, is not returning for Season 6.
“It was a little weird because [T.R. is] not there anymore,” she said.

But things weren’t all bad.

“It was actually kind of… great to be back,” she said. “All my friends are there and at this point, they’re sort of like family.”

Katherine, however, refrained from clarifying whether her character comes back from flat lining or, like her on-screen husband Denny Duquette, comes back as a ghost or figment of someone’s imagination.

“You last saw Izzie, you know, flat-lining,” she said. “I won’t give it away but… I’m there so I’m either there as a ghost, on the other side or I survived a disease no one survives.”

why T.R Knight really left 'Grey's Anatomy

T.R. Knight finally reveals the reason he left "Grey’s Anatomy."

In Entertainment Weekly, he talks about the strange disappearance of George from the show.

In the first nine episodes of season 5, he was onscreen for 48 minutes.

This compared to 114 minutes for Sandra Oh.

Not that anyone was counting.

Rather than talk to creator Shonda Rhimes about it, he up and left. But his reasoning is interesting. Did it have to do with him being gay?

"My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George]," he explains. "And with respect, I'm going to leave it at that."

Knight does say that Rhimes was one of those who tried to discourage him from coming out after Isaiah Washington’s gay comments.

But Rhimes denies this in the EW piece.

Walking away from a $14-million contract is not without risk.

"From an outsider's perspective, I get the [impression that] 'He’s just a spoiled actor. … He doesn’t know how good he has it,'

" he says. "There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work."

Katherine Heigl: Weekend Worker

Still rocking her darker hairdo, Katherine Heigl got an early start to the day as she stepped out in Los Angeles on Saturday (July 18).

The “Grey’s Anatomy” actress left her home to attend a business meeting at The Four Seasons Hotel, leaving her husband, Josh Kelley, to tend to the family pooch.

Meanwhile, Miss Heigl, who just premiered her new movie “The Ugly Truth,” chatted with press about filming her hit ABC medical drama without co-star pal T.R.Knight.

She tells, “It’s a little bizarre. I had to call him this morning and say, ‘OK, so this is what happened yesterday! This is what scenes we shot, this is how I felt about it.’”

Heigl added, “He’s who I went to everyday when I wanted to vent or to get advice.”

Enjoy the pictures of Katherine Heigl heading out to the Four Seasons (July 18).

The ‘Truth’ about Katherine Heigl

Star dishes straight talk about R-rated roles, love“The Ugly Truth,” a sweetly outrageous take on the battle of the sexes, marks Katherine Heigl’s second R-rated summer comedy.

“It’s not that I want to do R-rated movies, but they’re the most honest out there. I’m a 30-year-old woman,” the star of TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and the 2007 summer smash “Knocked Up” said Friday at L.A.’s Four Seasons Hotel.

“I loved ‘27 Dresses’ ” - her 2008 PG-13 hit - “but I still feel like I want to tell a real story to people my age and my generation. We censor so much of that (raunchy language) for a PG-13 rating that it can start to get a little cute and a little fantasy.”

In “Ugly Truth” Heigl plays Abby, a single California TV talk show producer who has yet to meet her ideal guy.

When Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler) starts making commentaries on her show about what men really think of women, namely their looks - “the ugly truth” as he calls it - it sparks a ratings bonanza.

Though Abby is initially disgusted, the two feel an attraction.

“What I love,” Heigl said, “is they end up together but it didn’t feel like fantasy, it felt like real life - two people sexually attracted to each other who came together emotionally and came together in a grownup’s world.”

Abby is not far from her “Grey’s Anatomy” character Dr. Izzie Stevens. Abby, she said, “Is not Izzie but a distant cousin.”“I definitely want to go and explore different personalities and people. But at the end of the day it’s hard to divorce me from that role. It’s nine months of the year, five days a week. It’s the way I talk and gesture; I’m going to slip in there. For this film I thought I could escape but I couldn’t. Something of me is always going to surface.”

There have been rumors that Heigl was leaving the series, but she returned and filmed 17 hours last Wednesday.
