Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl spoke with Access correspondent Shaun Robinson early this summer about the possibility of children. The two talked about adoption and Heigl remarked that they were "working on it." Heigl also went on to say, "We're working on it. It's just we are super crazed... Neither one of us want to give up our careers, neither one of us want to, you know, just be parents, but you have to slow down a little bit in order to devote the time that's needed." The couple is staying tight lipped about the details surrounding the adoption and will only confirm that they are in fact going through the process.
The busy mom to be will be taking a break from her role as Izzie Stevens for five episodes this year to film Life As We Know It with Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen Josh Duhamel. It is unclear whether she will take any more time off from Grey's once they welcome their new child into their home. So what will this mean for the prime time ABC hit? Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes hinted to characters moving around earlier this year and said, "Eventually, everybody is going to leave the show. So we're looking at [ways] we can mess with the structure now.... Season 6 is about finding the longevity of the show and figuring out if there is a future for this show beyond these characters."
